Once we receive this information, we will send you the supporting documents you need to make application for a J-1 visa at the American Consulate nearest to your home. About the visa interview: Consular officers are looking for evidence that you will return to your home country after you have completed the exchange program. The kinds of "evidence" they may consider include marital status, (including children left behind), other family ties, a house or other real estate, as well as information about your employer. Unfortunately there is no one "correct" way to answer or to prepare. In a few cases, faculty and students trying to come to UMF have been denied visas. We hope that will not be the case for you. After receiving your visa stamp in your passport, please be sure to notify us. Be sure to carry your passport as well as the DS2019 immigration document with your airline tickets on board the plane. You will be asked to present these documents upon arrival in the USA.
